Tragedy struck the set of the film Rust yesterday (October 22), as Alec Baldwin discharged a prop gun that killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and injured writer-director, Joel Souza. Now, Baldwin has spoken out about the incident.

In a pair of tweets issued through his professional page for the Hilaria and Alec Baldwin Foundation, he expressed his sadness and confirmed that he was cooperating with police to get to the bottom of the incident. He also wrote that he was in touch with Hutchins' husband.

Rust is an indie production currently filming in New Mexico. Baldwin is serving as both an actor and producer. Hutchins was taken to Albuquerque's University of New Mexico Hospital by helicopter, where she died from her injuries. Souza was treated at Santa Fe's Christus St. Vincent Regional Medical Center.
