Curbside Concerts Brings Live Music to Your Front Door
Enjoy a live show from your lawn, porch or balcony in BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba or Ontario
Published May 20, 2021As questions about Canada's return to live music remain largely unanswered, a group of music enthusiasts — calling themselves Curbside Concerts — have worked through innovative avenues to facilitate safe local shows while providing homegrown talent with paid gigs.
As the name suggests, Curbside Concerts — founded by Calgarians Matt Masters and Amanda Burgener back in March 2020 — works to bring live music to music fans' homes in lieu of local venues amid the ongoing pandemic, while always putting COVID safety measures first.
Since forming over a year ago, the company has grown its roster of participating artists, including some recent new additions.
With YEG industry vet Brandon Baker joining the company as Curbside's Edmonton producer, the city's roster has now expanded to include Crystal Eyo, Kimberley MacGregor, 0Stella, Bill Leblanc of Rellik, King of Foxes and Jesse Lipscomb, in addition to Joe Nolan, Jay Gilday, D'Orjay the Singing Shaman and Billie Zizi, who had previously joined Curbside's Edmonton roster.
"I am so proud to be on board with Curbside Concerts," Baker said in a statement. "It's a truly innovative way for artists to stay working throughout the pandemic. I have the distinct pleasure of announcing new additions to our roster of great artists here in Edmonton!"
Over in Ontario, the province's extensive selection of Curbside artists includes Eamon McGrath, Sameer Cash, Lily Frost, Altered by Mom, members of I, the Mountain, Lynne Hanson and many more.
With vaccinations gradually rolling out nationwide, the Curbside Concerts team is still committed to providing safe and enjoyable shows to Canadians in seven regions across the country. Currently, the company services Edmonton, Lethbridge, Calgary, Okotoks, High River, Brandon, Winnipeg, Sainte-Boniface, Saskatoon, Vancouver, Fraser Valley, Comox Valley, Toronto, Peterborough, London and Ottawa.
